Shoulder Shawl

A fashionable shawl with a purpose
Free knitting pattern for shoulder shawl.
The shawl measures about 110 cm at widest top part, and is about 42 cm
from center top down to bottom point (unstretched).
Materials:
Lightweight worsted weight yarn (we used Lion Brand Micro-Spun),
US Size # 17 needles

This will keep you neck and shoulders from drafts of air conditioning, or on cool evenings.
Long front ” tails” for easy tying, helps keep in place around your shoulders

Finished size – The shawl measures about 43½ inches at widest top part, and is about
16½ inches from center top down to bottom point (unstretched)

Materials – Lightweight worsted weight yarn (we used Lion Brand Micro-Spun)
About 3½ ounces, or you will need 2 balls of this yarn. It may take a bit more yarn if you wish to put fringe on.
US Size # 17 needles

Note – inc. means increase

Gauge – 3 sts. and 4 rows equal 1 inch

Directions
Beginning at bottom point of shawl, cast on 2 sts.

Row 1 – Knit 1, inc. in next st. by knitting in front and back of st. (3 sts.)
Row 2 – Knit 2, inc. in next st., knit 1. (4 sts.)
Row 3 – Knit 1, inc. in next 2 sts., knit 1 (6 sts.)
Row 4 – Knit 1, inc. in next st., knit across to within last 2 sts., inc in next st., knit 1.

Repeat row 4 until 130 sts. on needle. Bind off loosely. Weave in yarn ends. You can add fringe around sides if desired.
